Terms of Service

By using Joyp you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Joyp is a media player. We don't provide playlists, channels, or video content. You bring your own. You're responsible for making sure what you access is legal and that you have the right to do so.

1. What Joyp Is (and Isn't)

WHY we built Joyp

Existing media players lack cloud sync, cross-device continuity, and modern UX. Joyp is a player that lets you organize and watch your own content library across every device you own.

HOW it works

All video playback happens on your device. Our servers handle account sync, settings, and favorites. We never touch, cache, transcode, or relay video data. Streams go directly from your source to your screen.

WHAT Joyp is

A media player. Like VLC, but with cloud sync and a modern interface. It supports M3U, M3U8, and Xtream Codes playlist formats. You supply the playlists. We supply the player.

To be clear about what we don't do:

We don't provide any playlists, channels, streams, or video content
We don't host video on our servers
We have zero affiliation with any content distributor or streaming service
We don't endorse accessing copyrighted content without the rights holder's permission
We don't promote, recommend, or sell any specific content sources or packages

You're responsible for verifying your playlists are legal and that you have full rights to access the content. We're not responsible for misuse of copyright or third-party content through our software.

2. Who Can Use It

You need to be at least 13 (US) or 16 (EU/UK). You need to give us accurate info when you sign up. You're responsible for keeping your password and vault passphrase secure.

3. Your Vault Passphrase

Your streaming credentials are encrypted with a passphrase only you know. We can't recover it. If you forget your passphrase, you can reset your vault and re-enter your details, but the old encrypted data is gone. That's the trade-off for real zero-knowledge privacy.

4. Don't Do These Things

Access content you're not authorized to view
Reverse-engineer or decompile the app
Circumvent device limits, tier restrictions, or rate limiting
Share your account or resell access
Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against the service
Interfere with the security or availability of the platform
Use the service for anything illegal

5. Billing

Pricing is at joyp.tv/pricing. If we change prices, you get 30 days notice. Your current rate stays until renewal.

Payments are accepted in Bitcoin Lightning and on-chain BTC through our self-hosted Bitcoin payment system. We do not accept card payments. By subscribing you authorize recurring on-chain or Lightning invoices.

Refunds

Monthly: No refunds for partial months
Annual: Contact support@joyp.tv within 15 days of your first annual purchase for a 90% refund. After 15 days, no refunds.
Crypto: All crypto transactions are final. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed.
Trials: Free during trial. Converts to paid when trial ends unless you cancel.

Cancel anytime in your account settings. You keep access until the billing period ends.

6. Our IP

The app, its design, and its code are ours. You get a personal, non-commercial license to use the service. That's it.

7. No Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE DON'T GUARANTEE IT WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, BUG-FREE, OR AVAILABLE 24/7. WE MAKE NO CLAIMS ABOUT THE LEGALITY, QUALITY, OR AVAILABILITY OF CONTENT YOU ACCESS THROUGH YOUR OWN PLAYLISTS.

8. Liability Cap

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS CAPPED AT WHAT YOU'VE PAID US IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. WE'RE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

9. You Indemnify Us

If someone comes after us because of how you used the service, what content you accessed, or how you violated these terms or someone else's rights, you cover our costs including legal fees.

10. We Can Cut You Off

We can suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms, misuse, or abuse. No refund on the remaining subscription. Your data gets deleted per our privacy policy. You can also delete your own account anytime in settings.

11. Disputes

Delaware law governs. Disputes go to binding arbitration (AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules). You can do it remotely. No class actions. Claims must be filed within one year.

12. Updates

We can change these terms. If it's a big change, you get 30 days notice via email or in-app.
